There are no excuses for not being successful in any aspect in your life. I’m not just talking about finances, but also in our day-to-day life!
If you’re broke, it’s because you want to be broke. If your life is boring, it’s because you’re satisfied with being bored. If you lack confidence, it’s because you don’t feel it’s important enough to fix.
When I made the decision to start my own business 20 years ago, I had absolutely no experience. My mom and I wanted to start a business selling religious apparel online.
There was only one problem … E-commerce websites back then easily cost anywhere from $5,000 – $15,000 bucks.
Like most folks starting a business, we didn’t have that type of cash; and it’s at this point where most folks would quit.
Not me.
I took my butt on down to the local bookstore and purchased a few books on website design. Back then, Dreamweaver was the software of choice for building websites. I learned everything I needed to know about building a website through books.
Back then, many of the books had the CD-ROM in it where you could watch tutorials and get more in-depth instruction.
In a matter of weeks, I got the basics I needed to build the website and we eventually launched.
It was trial and error throughout the entire process, but we managed to build a very successful business.
That business was the starting point that led me into many other business opportunities over the years.
I bring this up because my life changed because of books … Books quite literally saved my life.
No matter what it is you’re dealing with, there’s a book on the topic.
- Failed marriage: there’s a book on how to save and rebuild your marriage and make it better.
- Poor money manager: there’s a book on how to save and budget properly
- Wanna buy and flip real estate: Somebody shared all of their how to experience in real estate investing book
- Want to be a better parent: A counselor somewhere with 50 years of experience has written a book on the topic
And this is what I like most about books … Some guy or lady, took 20, 30, or 40 years of their experience and packaged it all up inside of a book.
You’d easily spend thousands of dollars in consulting fees to get meaningful conversations and advice from these people. If you tried to learn and figure this stuff out on your own, it could literally take you 5, 10, or 15 years to get all of the bugs figured out.
But within the pages of a book, it’s all right there.
This One Thing Was the Game Changer
The reason things worked out so well for me 20 years ago when I needed a website, I took action.
I didn’t just read the book … I sat down and I actually applied the knowledge I was learning from the book. I went out and purchased the recommended software. I even found a local weekend class and attended it.
Reading and gaining all of this knowledge is pointless if you don’t use and apply it.
Whatever you want to learn, there is a book on the topic.
Wanna learn how to raise chickens in your backyard? There’s a book telling you everything you need to do to raise chickens. I know this because my neighbor in Florida did this. I woke up one day and out of the blue, there were chickens in her backyard, lol.
So what do you want to learn? How do you wish to change your life?
There’s a book on the topic … Most books can be purchased for less than $20 bucks nowadays. The return on that investment is immeasurable if you act on the instruction in the book.
I’d encourage you to pick one aspect of your life you wish to improve on. Or, make a decision on what you’d like to do in the next (or current) phase of your life. Then find two books on the topic and order it.
Amazon.com is a great place to start.
In an effort to get my on-again and off-again diabetes under control, I purchased two books, The Diabetes Code, and The Complete Guide to Fasting by Dr. Jason Fung.
These books were game changers. I implement right away and I lost about 15 pounds inside of 2-weeks. My blood sugar levels dropped and stayed in the normal range within 2-weeks.
But then I slipped back into my old habits (so I’ll likely buy another book on ‘Habits’, lol).
But it worked well when I implemented the information provided by the doctor who likely spent over $500,000 – $1,000,000 to go to medical school … That doesn’t factor in his 20+ years of experience in medicine…
It cost me less than $40 books to tap into his knowledge.
So … What will you do? Please share what two books you’ll purchase right now (not tomorrow, but right now).
Don’t put this off.
Remember, this only works if you take action and implement!
